METER TRIMMING

Springtime brings a lot of plant growth. While this is usually very pretty it makes it difficult to access and read your water meter. The District has the legal right to be able to access our meters for BOTH reading and maintenance. If plant growth is infringing upon your meter, please trim and maintain a two-foot area around the meter.

ANY type of material that prevents us from accessing your meter; for example, vehicles, debris, rocks, hedges, needs to be removed. If we are unable to read the meter, your water usage will be estimated for that billing period.

The District is also implementing a meter access charge. There will be a minimum charge of $65 per hour for trimming and debris removal for any trimming we need to do, or a $65 flat rate charge if something is placed on the meter. This charge will be for EACH instance.

The meter must also be accessible from either the curb, street, utility easement or right-of-way. Meters cannot be located on private property, as District employees are not legally allowed to go onto private property to read a meter.

The District is in the process of locating, and will be moving any meters currently situated on private property. Please feel free to contact the District directly if you have any questions regarding the location of your meter.

SYSTEM FLUSHING

In order to maintain a safe water supply, District staff will be flushing the entire distribution system during the early summer. If any water is used and drawn into your house through your meter during this flushing you may experience cloudy (air) or rusty looking water. Please be patient, it will clear. CONSERVATION ISSUES

The District is not experiencing any decline in our water sources due to the draught this year. We are however, encouraging all customers to continue to help the region meet the voluntary reduction goal of ten percent through the summer.
